Design Team Call!!!!

Calling all Sistah’s!
The Digi Shack Design Team Call
It’s that time again where we are looking for a few fresh faces to join The Digi Shack.
If you LOVE digi’s you’ll love being part of our family!  We are looking for new design team members.  We’ve recently lowered our prices on our images to just $1 each to do our part in saving the world of paper crafter’s money!  We are also adding a few new lines to our shop including some fabulous templates!
Open to:
U.S. and International English speaking applicants
Please read the following very carefully before submitting your application.  It is very important that you follow the directions as that too is part of the determining factor of you becoming a DT member
·         3 pictures of your VERY BEST work.  Photos must be sized at 640x480.  This can either be cards, layouts with pictures or altered items
·         A paragraph (not a sentence) about you and why you want to be a Shack Sistah and what you will do to promote The Digi Shack.
·         A clickable link to your blog
·         A clickable link to your online gallery or galleries
·         A list of clickable links to all Design teams you are on.  It is favorable that you are not active on more than 3 design teams while you are with TDS.

What is expected of DT members?
If you are chosen to be a Shack Sistah you will be expected to:
·         Complete weekly challenges and post to your blog on the challenge day(s).
·         Post comments and photos on SNR and PCP and other social networking sites.(this means you will have to have a user account at SNR and PCP)
·         You will also be required to leave comments on blogs for all of our TDS fans that participate in our challenges and your sistah’s blogs
·         Participate in ALL TDS events where sufficient notice is given.
·         It is not required but we encourage all DT members to submit their artwork to magazine publication at least once a month. A list of publications will be provided for you on the DT blog.
You will also be required to participate in Digi Day on SNR on the 1st Saturday of EVERY MONTH for your term.(this date is subject to change without notice) as well as our monthly Ustream live video feeds (you do not need to have a webcam but you do need to sign up for a free Ustream account so that you can participate in the live chats)
You must use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome as your internet browser in order to view all of our images – both safer than IE and free to download.  Our images are not always visible on IE.  This does not mean if you use IE you have to delete it, you just need to use Firefox or Chrome while working with TDS images and blogs.  You can have more than one browser installed on your computer and it should not harm or interfere with your system.
You must also know and understand how to use digital images.  No special software is required but you must be able to print digital images in order to showcase them.  Further, you must have a working knowledge of blogging software and understand the basic principles of inserting links, adding photos, etc.
A digital camera to photograph your work is required.  No scanned images please.
You will be required to promote TDS by placing a clickable blog button on your blog. (This will be provided to you by TDS if you are chosen to be on the team)
You must have a blog that is updated at least 3 times a week.
You must be willing to commit to a 3 month term (June 1, 2010-Sept 1, 2010)
You will be required to check the DT blog daily to check for updates or new events.  This is our main form of communication.
You must be willing to work under short notice.  I am not a planner and more often than not, I plan things at the last minute.
Failure to comply with the above terms may result in termination with or without notice.
What do DT members get as part of being on the team?
You will receive free TDS images!  This round we are doing things a bit different.  Once selected as part of the DT you will receive 3 images of your choice to create with to announce your position on the team.  Once I see that these three images are used you may choose 3 more and so on.  I’ve found that if I freely give out images then they are not being used to showcase TDS.  This isn’t just about getting free images, your position on the DT is to showcase and promote The Digi Shack.  As long as you are creating with our images and showcasing them, you will receive all of your requested images.  Please remember that this is a serious commitment and I expect that you treat it as such if you are chosen.  Please do not apply if you can not commit.
Monthly we will be releasing new images and you will automatically be sent those images before the release date so that you can sneak peek those new arrivals.  Those new releases do not count towards your images of choice.
If you think you have what it takes to be a Shack Sistah email your application with DESIGN TEAM in the subject line by May 15, 2010 – Any applications with anything more or less than DESIGN TEAM in the subject line will be disqualified.
Good luck!

Ah, my little chickadee......

Ok, so I'm a little young to actually remember WC Fields.....but that saying came to mind while I was coloring this adorable image from Sunshine's Stamps. This little guy was a lot of fun to color. Especially with all the real birdies flying around outside, now that Spring is officially here :) Like this little guy? Go ahead and check out all his feathered friends over at Sunshine's Stamps.....you are in for a "Tweet"......lame right? Sorry about the image quality....I just could not, for the life of me, get a good shot of this one. I think it's all the yellow :)

Don't ya just love 3D????

3D movies for me....not so much.....but 3D projects.....LOVE them!!! Toni, owner of The Digi Shack, challenged the DT to make a 3D project that was NOT a card or scrapbook page. This was a perfect challenge with perfect timing for me this week. With it being my son's birthday this month, I chose to make a gift box for my 3D project. We decided to get him the Ipod Touch (lucky kid) for his birthday and this box fit the Ipod perfectly!!! I got the template for the box HERE. I used the cupcake image from The Digi Shack to finish it off and make it look 'birthdayeeee'......ok, so that's SO not a word and Marlene, the spelling police, is sure to let me know that, but it works for me :) Go ahead, try the challenge...it was a lot of fun!!! Check out all the images over at The Digi Shack...you are sure to find one that will make your gift box beautiful!!! When you finish your gift box, leave me a comment with a link to it so I can check it out!!!

Happy Birthday to my Son, Jeremy!!!

Ok, so his birthday isn't until April 13th......but actually having a card done this much ahead of time makes me super happy :) I used this super cool monster image from The Digi Shack. This week, Toni gave us a sketch challenge, that I am passing on to you to try, using this sketch:

I used Copics for the base colors, then shaded and highlighted with my Prisma pencils....I love my markers and pencils!!! Keep your eyes peeled for some NEW IMAGES from The Digi Shack in the very near future!!! But in the mean time, head on over and see what cool images she is offering now :)

Soggy Tuesday...

I am just about finished building my ark.....OY!!!! We have just been pummeled with rain the last two days. Today was absolutely horrendous though!!! Thank goodness it's not cold enough for snow otherwise we would probably be buried!!! It may be rainy out there, but on here it's SUNSHINE TUESDAY!!!!! Take a look at this 'tweet' little bird :) He can be found, along with a few other adorable feathered friends, over at Sunshine's Stamps Now if that isn't enough to get you over there....how about a free image? That's right...head on over there to see what image she is giving away for FREE!!! As for this little blue dude, I used my typical technique on him......base colored with Copics, then highlighted and shaded with my Prisma pencils. At least he is Springy looking....even if the weather outside isn't.

Digi Shack Wednesday Challenge...

This week, Toni gave us a really fun challenge. It was to design a 'non typical' size card. I am SO guilty of sticking to the normal size cards, so I was very excited to make this one!! I folded a piece of card stock in half, placed a Spellbinders die on the fold and ran it through my Sizzix. This gave me such a cute mini card. Then I simply took the next size down of the same die and cute out this adorable image from Digi Shack. Snail Mail...LOL....boy isn't that the truth in this day and age of technology!!! When you get a chance, head on over to the Digi Shack and take a peak at the wonderful images Toni has to offer!!!

Ahhh...I think I have totally recovered from my trip to AZ!! Boy it sure is hard getting back into the swing of things after you have been gone for a week!! My first official 'ok,, back to work now' card is the Wednesday Challenge for the Digi Shack. Our challenge this week was to make a card with the focal point being green. And speaking of green....HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY. I'm soooooooooo not Irish, but hey, it's a holiday right?? I'm not a huge green fan...but I just LOVE pink...so I put a bit of that in there too!! If you get the chance, go on over to the Digi Shack and look this little guy up. While you are there, take a look at all the wonderful images she has to offer....you won't be disappointed!!!

Prickly Pear Rubber Stamps

As March Guest Designer for Prickly Pear Rubber Stamps, I had to challenge myself on this card. I chose to do a card with no image to color. WHAT??? Me? Not color? I know, right? Amongst other products, PPRS has a great assortment of sentiments and transparencies. The transparency on this one actually comes off of one of their "Fall/Halloween"  ATC sets found here. On this card, I combined the two to make a pretty focal point to the card. Keep a watch out for more cards using their sentiments :) In the mean time, go take a look at their site to see all the goodies they offer!! I apologize for the poor quality of the image. I took the pictures then sent the cards out to Nicole before checking to make sure I got a good picture of them.

Ahhhhhh....tis almost St. Patty's Day...

As we start the month of March, I look forward to SPRING!!! It has to be right around the corner.....right??? I have had just about enough of this white stuff. Oh, don't get me wrong, the first snowfall is wonderful. So pretty, so serene, a beautiful act of Mother Nature. Then comes along the second....ok....I can handle watching this beautiful white stuff fall from the sky again. After that, all bets are off...I'm done....lol. My kids have been off more days because of said white stuff then they have off for Spring break!!! OY!! On a good note, my tush is heading out to sunny Arizona on Wednesday to visit my sister for 8 long WARM days!! While I'm gone.....take some time and go visit Sunshine's Stamps, where you can find the lucky "Sean O'Hare". Maybe he will bring us an early Spring :)

Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom of the post for the rules of the challenge and instructions on getting this adorable little guy yourself. Tuesday's Card...

For today's Sunshine's Stamps card, I chose to use Romeo again. However, there is something missing from good ol' Romeo...his extended heart. (scroll back a few cards to see what he looks like normally) I wanted to show you all the versatility of using a digi image. Hopefully this doesn't get me in any trouble with Sunshine :) I was looking to make an Easter card and just LOVE Romeo....but his 'heart' just wasn't working for Easter.I opened him up in Paint Shop Pro and simply 'erased' his heart, added a few lines and boom....an altered image :) This is one of the main reasons I just love working with digi images. The same thing was done to "Huckleberry" on Stephanie's Blog.....Hucks heart was removed and an Easter egg was put in it's place. THIS is Huck with the heart...and THIS is him with the egg. Yep, I LOVE digi images :) If you get a chance, click on her link and check out her images! I actually didn't use any Copics on this image....it's all Prisma pencils!! It's hard to really see it, but I also used white fun flock on his tummy, snout and ears.

Blog Candy!!!

Vanessa is giving away some Spellbinders Nestabilities!!
Go check out her blog HERE

Valentine's Party....postponed......

Well, thanks to Mother Nature....Paige's Valentine's Day party at school
was postponed until Tuesday. It gave us a bit more time to work on her
'mailbox' though, so it's all good. She was very happy with how it turned out.

Is it Spring yet???

Ah yes, just as good ol' Punxsutawney Phil claims 6 more weeks of
winter....we get hammered. Super. AND to top it off, with the combined
snow days and Presidents Day vacation days, my kids are off for a total
of 6 days in a row. Apparently Mother Nature has a sense of humor.
Again, super. NOT that I don't like having my kids around....it's the
catastrophe of a mess that they seem to leave behind. Not to mention
the slew of winter clothes that 5 kids leave behind when returning from
frolicking in said snow :(
At least it's pretty to look at!!!

Just around the corner......

Valentine's Day is just a few days away....are you ready??
Hopping in just in time for the big day is Huckleberry.
Another absolutely ADORABLE image from Sunshine's Stamps
I just LOVE pink and brown together. Perhaps not the traditional
Valentine's colors, but they work :)
I colored the image using Copics and Prisma pencils.
I also used a Martha Stewart border punch, and some
Kaiser pearls.

VROOM......

Racing in for this week's card is this great image of
a 71' Mustang from Sunshine's Stamps I colored this image
in the Grabber Yellow from that year :)
I used my typical copics as base and prisma pencils
for shading.

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Oh Romeo!!!

Check out this little cutie "Romeo".
Isn't he just so adorable??
This little guy can be found at
Sunshine's Stamps under the holiday
section.
I just loved coloring him. He has so many
possibilities!!!!

This weeks

cards using Sunshine's Stamps digital images.
For this card I used her Sweet Bee 5...isn't he cute??
I wanted to see what I could do with some basic layering.
I used the Cuttlebug hearts embossing folder with black/yellow
coordination paper.
For coloring the image, I used my basic tools...copics and prisma pencils.

just loved this sketch from Friday Sketchers so much that
I decided to do another one using a Whipper Snapper image,

I can hardly believe that it is coming up on Valentine's Day already!!

wonderful sketch challenges. This sketch was done by the VERY talented Claudia Rosa.
Check out her blog...you will be inspired!!
I have used one of Sunshine's many fabulous Valentine images for this challenge.
I used just basic Bazzill paper, some ribbon and black Dew Drops.
